BUTLER, Pennsylvania – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas), chairman emeritus of the House Homeland Security Committee, issued a statement today after visiting the site of President Trump's attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania. McCaul was joined by Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.) and a bipartisan delegation. The United States Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has not visited the rally site.
“I stood at the same spot where the would-be assassin was perched that day with his rifle, and I could not believe how close it was to where President Trump spoke. Thomas Crooks should never have been allowed on that roof. The Secret Service has a ‘zero fail mission,’ but Director Cheatle has admitted that her agency failed that day. Director Cheatle is clearly not fit to lead the agency, and she should resign immediately.”
