On November 18, 2024, the Austin Police Department responded to a call at 6922 Bryn Mawr Drive concerning a deceased person. Officers discovered Linda Mlsna and her dog dead inside the residence. Following the initial investigation, it was found that Ms. Mlsna's roommate, Jack Moore, was missing and had used her credit cards for fraudulent transactions after her death.

The APD's Tactical Intelligence Unit and the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force later located Moore on an unrelated warrant. During an interview with detectives, Moore confessed to killing both Ms. Mlsna and her dog. He also admitted to taking her credit cards and planning to leave the country.

Moore has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently in custody at Travis County jail. Authorities confirmed that no other individuals were involved in this case, posing no further threat to public safety.

The police department urges anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously via the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477.

This incident marks Austin's 63rd homicide of 2024.
