City of Austin administrative offices and other municipal facilities will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 28 and 29, in observance of Thanksgiving.
Austin Resource Recovery announced that trash, recycling, and composting collections scheduled for those days will be delayed by one day. Thursday collections will occur on Friday, while Friday collections will take place on Saturday. The Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center will also be closed on these days. Austin Water’s Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant will not accept yard trimmings or large brush drop-offs on Thanksgiving.
Austin Public Health services including Environmental Health Services at the Rutherford Lane Campus, Office of Vital Records, all WIC and Shots for Tots clinics, and Neighbor Centers will be closed during the holiday.
The Parks and Recreation Department advises checking facility-specific schedules before visiting. Offices, museums, cultural centers, recreation centers, and senior centers will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, remaining closed through Friday. Zilker Botanical Gardens and Austin Nature & Science Center have similar closures with slight variations in reopening times.
Tennis Centers are closed only on Thanksgiving Day. Golf ATX course reservations can be made until noon on Thanksgiving Day. Barton Springs Pool remains open but unguarded; other aquatic facilities are closed.
All Austin Municipal Court locations are set to close for the holiday period as well.
The Austin Public Library system will shut down all locations on November 28 and 29. Remote resources remain accessible via their website.
The Austin Animal Center follows suit with closures over the same dates but resumes normal hours on Saturday, November 30.
City of Austin Utilities Customer Care Call Center is closing from Thursday through Sunday, December 1. Utility payments can still be made online or via phone. Power outages can be reported by text or phone call.
Austin Water's administration offices are closing for the holiday period; however, their customer service contact center remains operational around the clock.
