Austin Parks and Recreation is seeking community involvement for the expansion of the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center. The project aims to create inclusive spaces that represent the community's diverse cultural heritage. Residents are encouraged to participate in meetings and surveys to express their views on how the museum can serve current and future generations.

The planned improvements are part of a facility expansion plan approved by the Council in 2021. Phase 1a involves relocating administrative areas to a new upper level, which will allow more space for community programs near the main entrance. Phase 1b focuses on enhancing outdoor areas with features such as outdoor classrooms, renovated public restrooms, and a flexible event lawn with a covered pavilion. The project is currently in its community engagement phase.

Residents can sign up for updates about the project.
