Austin police seek public help to identify vehicle in fatal hit-and-run

Austin Police Department (APD) Vehicular Homicide Detectives are asking for public assistance in identifying a vehicle involved in a fatal crash. The incident occurred on September 25, 2024, at around 9:32 p.m. in the 4600 block of E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The crash involved two vehicles and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as Kameron Hartman, was crossing midblock when struck by a white SUV and then by another unknown vehicle. Hartman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the white SUV stayed on site, was not injured, and is cooperating with authorities. However, the driver of the second vehicle left without stopping or calling emergency services.

This case marks Austin's 66th fatal crash of 2024, leading to 71 fatalities. Comparatively, on this date in 2023, there were 67 fatal crashes resulting in 70 fatalities.
