Austin Energy, Austin Water, Austin Resource Recovery, Austin Watershed Protection, and the City of Austin Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management are collaborating this winter to assist residents with emergency preparedness, efficiency, and sustainability.
The city will provide information, demonstrations, and giveaway items at the City of Austin Utilities Customer Service Centers on December 10th and 11th. Items such as meter keys, hose bib covers, hand-crank flashlights, solar-powered device chargers, emergency preparedness kit materials, and winter preparedness tip sheets will be available. Customers are advised to arrive early due to limited quantities.
The event schedule is as follows:
- UCSC — North: 8–11 a.m., or while supplies last on Tuesday, December 10th at 8716 Research Blvd., Suite 115.
- UCSC — South: 8–11 a.m., or while supplies last on Wednesday, December 11th at 1901 W. William Cannon Dr., Suite 100.
Residents are reminded to consider the "Four Ps" of preparedness during the winter weather season: people, pets, plants, and pipes. More information about winter weather safety and building a shelter-in-place kit can be found at ReadyCentralTexas.org. Additionally, customers are encouraged to stay informed by tuning in for emergency alerts.
