The Austin Police Department (APD) has announced that the next of kin for Ms. Thi Lang Nguyen has been located, following a request for public assistance. The department expressed gratitude to the community and those who helped spread the word.
Originally, APD's Homicide Unit sought help in identifying the next of kin for Ms. Nguyen, who was found deceased on December 1, 2024, at approximately 8:13 a.m., in the 300 zone of Lady Bird Lake. At that time, no foul play was suspected in her death.
Ms. Nguyen was identified as a 73-year-old Asian female. Despite efforts during the investigation, detectives were initially unable to locate her next of kin. They reached out to the public for assistance so they could inform both the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office and the APD Victim Services Unit to facilitate her burial.
Community members with information about Ms. Nguyen or her family were encouraged to contact authorities through the Homicide Tip Line or by calling 512-974-5210.
