The City of Austin has released information regarding service schedule adjustments and office closures for the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
For Austin Resource Recovery, trash, recycling, and composting collections scheduled from Wednesday to Friday will be delayed by one day during both holiday weeks. Monday and Tuesday collections will remain unchanged. The Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center will not operate on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day. Similarly, Austin Water's Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant will close on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Austin Public Health announced that Environmental Health Services at the Rutherford Lane Campus, Office of Vital Records, all WIC and Shots for Tots clinics, as well as Neighbor Centers will not be open on December 24th and 25th.
City of Austin Utilities Customer Care Call Center along with Utility Customer Service Centers will also be closed on December 24th and 25th. However, utility payments can still be made online or through phone services.
Most Parks and Recreation facilities in Austin are set to close for the holidays on December 24th-25th as well as January 1st. Facility hours may vary by location; thus it is advised to confirm ahead by visiting their website.
All branches of the Austin Public Library will shut down operations on December 24th-25th. On December 31st, libraries will close early at 5 p.m., followed by a full-day closure on January 1st. Online resources remain accessible via their website.
The Austin Animal Center plans to stay closed from December 24th-25th but resume normal hours starting December 26th. They will again close early at 5 p.m. on December 31st before closing entirely for New Year's Day.
Austin Municipal Court locations are slated to shut down operations during the same dates—December 24th-25th—as part of the holiday observance.
Similarly affected is Downtown Austin Community Court's Violet KeepSafe Storage program (VKS), Homeless Services, Court Services, which have scheduled closures aligning with these dates including January 1st for New Year's observance. Regular services are expected to resume immediately after each holiday break concludes.
