Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run accident on Pond Springs Road

On January 31, 2025, at around 2:44 a.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a traffic incident involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 13000 block of Pond Springs Road. The vehicle involved in the collision left the scene. The pedestrian, identified as Beth Wynne Dahl, was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead on February 1, 2025.

The APD is treating this incident as Austin's fifth fatal crash of the year, with five fatalities recorded so far in 2025. This investigation remains active and ongoing. Comparatively, on the same date in 2024, there were two fatal crashes resulting in two deaths.

The initial assessment of this tragic event has been released by authorities; however, details regarding the fatality may be subject to change as investigations continue.
