The Austin Police Department (APD) is seeking the public's help in locating a suspect involved in a robbery by assault that took place at a Walmart on Norwood Park Boulevard. The incident occurred on Sunday, February 2, 2025, around 5 p.m.
According to the APD Robbery Unit, the suspect, identified as Servando Cruz Jr., arrived at the Walmart parking lot driving a red Corvette. Cruz allegedly displayed a handgun and stole a French Bulldog puppy from the victims. Although officers later found the Corvette nearby and attempted to detain Cruz, he managed to escape at high speed.
On February 6, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a residence in Dale, Texas. This operation involved the APD SWAT team, Violent Crimes Task Force, and Robbery Unit. The search led to the recovery of the stolen puppy and two firearms—one of which had been reported stolen—as well as the red Corvette Stingray, also reported stolen from Leander, Texas.
The police suspect that this Corvette has been used in multiple criminal activities across Central Texas. Anyone recognizing this vehicle's involvement in other crimes is encouraged to contact APD with information.
Currently wanted for three felony warrants—two counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and one count of evading arrest with a motor vehicle—Servando Cruz Jr. remains at large.
APD successfully reunited the stolen puppy with its family on February 6, 2025.
