The Austin Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatic Division is preparing for the upcoming 2025 swim season. Efforts are underway to hire and train lifeguards, conduct maintenance at Barton Springs Pool, and offer season passes for sale.

The division is actively recruiting lifeguards with a starting wage of $21.63 per hour. Training sessions will be available, especially during spring break from March 16-22. Prospective lifeguards must complete job applications and necessary paperwork before enrolling in training. Applicants need to be at least 15 years old, and individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Additional information can be found at LifeguardAustin.com.

Barton Springs Pool will undergo its routine annual maintenance closure from March 1 through March 14. During this period, other year-round pools across Austin will remain open for visitors. For updated pool hours, patrons can visit AustinTexas.gov/Pools.

Season passes for the swim season are now on sale as of February 10. Entry fees at pools will commence on March 8, with passes valid until October 31, 2025. The passes also include parking access at Zilker Park, offering a convenient option for enjoying Austin's swimming facilities throughout the season. More details are available at AustinTexas.gov/Pools.
