Michael McCaul, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 10th district, has been vocal on social media about recent hostage situations involving American citizens. His posts highlight the release of hostages and his ongoing concerns regarding their treatment and negotiations with terrorist groups.

On February 9, 2025, McCaul expressed relief over the release of three individuals after nearly 500 days in captivity but condemned the conditions they endured. He stated: "I am beyond grateful that Eli, Or, and Ohad have finally been released after almost 500 days of captivity. But I am appalled by the condition the three men were released in. They had clearly been starved and horrifically abused during their captivity. Hamas are monsters – full…"

The following day, February 10, 2025, McCaul addressed further complications in hostage negotiations with Hamas. He tweeted: "I’m both heartbroken and angered by the news Hamas is refusing to release the next group of hostages. But this kind of subterfuge and chaos is unfortunately exactly what we should expect from these vile terrorists." This post highlighted his frustration with ongoing efforts to secure additional releases.

On February 11, 2025, McCaul shared positive news about another American citizen's release: "I'm thrilled to hear Marc is on his way to be reunited with his family on American soil." He acknowledged previous advocacy efforts directed at the Biden administration to recognize Marc as "wrongfully detained" and appreciated former President Trump's team's role in securing Marc's return.
