Austin and Travis County area residents face heat, wildfire, and flash-flooding risks this summer. Austin’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) is hosting an Emergency Preparedness Pop-Up event at the Yarborough Branch Library on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. This event is part of a monthly series hosted by Austin HSEM in each City Council District throughout the year on the third Wednesday of each month.

Homicide investigation launched after double fatality in Austin

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at approximately 10:16 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call of a stabbing at 4411 Airport Boulevard. A caller reported that two people were dead. Officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (A/TCEMS) arrived on the scene and located the body of a female inside the residence, later identified as Iris Hernandez-Perdomo. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. They also found a male inside the residence identified as Wilfredo Chavez-Chincilla, who was also pronounced deceased on the scene.

The caller reported that someone had been stabbed and a subject had fled from the residence. Officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (A/TCEMS) arrived on the scene and located the body of a male, later identified as Edgar Yudiel Granados. Granados was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Motorcyclist dies following collision at East 45th and Duval Streets
